# Dublin Bus Live Map

## What it is

Dublin Bus Live Map is a free, interactive web application that shows the real-time positions of all Dublin Bus vehicles on a map. Data is sourced from the National Transport Authority (NTA) GTFS-Realtime feed and updated every 15 seconds.

## Key features

- Live bus positions for all Dublin Bus routes, updated every 15 seconds
- Search routes by number (e.g. 7, 7A, 46A) or by stop name (e.g. "Stillorgan", "Glasnevin")
- Select multiple routes simultaneously to track them on the map at once
- Blue icons (↙) = outbound buses; green icons (↗) = inbound buses
- Destination label shown above each bus icon
- Direction toggle to show route shape and stops for inbound or outbound
- Star (★) favourite routes and restore them with one tap
- Shareable URLs — selected routes are encoded in the URL
- Works on mobile and desktop; installable as a PWA

## Data source

Live vehicle positions: NTA GTFS-Realtime feed (https://api.nationaltransport.ie/gtfsr/v2/Vehicles)
Static route/shape/stop data: NTA GTFS static feed, rebuilt periodically

## How to use

1. Open https://dublinbusmap.pages.dev/
2. Search for your route number or a stop name in the sidebar
3. Click a route to select it — buses appear on the map immediately
4. Click a bus icon to see its destination and last-seen time
5. Star routes to save favourites; bookmark the URL to share your view
